Shortcuts & preview

Two tools make editor work faster and safer: a fully keyboard-driven workflow, and a preview that lays your translation out like the real document.

Keyboard shortcuts

In the tables below, Mod is Ctrl on Windows and Linux and Cmd on macOS. Press Mod+/ at any time — or click the keyboard button in the toolbar — to see the current bindings, including any you have customised.

Shortcuts respect permissions: an action you are not allowed to perform on a row (confirming a row past your stage, a PM-only delivery flag) simply does nothing, and the confirm/ready/lock shortcuts show the same QA warning dialogs as the buttons do. The delivery-flag shortcuts are effective for project managers and admins only.

These are built in and not customisable:

Two additional rebindable actions, Next cell and Previous cell, exist without a default chord (Tab already covers them); bind them if you prefer different keys.

Customising shortcuts

Open the shortcut settings from the keyboard button in the editor toolbar, or from your profile page. Every action is listed by category with its current binding.

Edit — click Edit next to an action, then press the new key combination. The next keystroke is recorded; Esc cancels.
Conflicts — if the combination is already bound to another action, the panel warns you and rejects the change; free the other binding first.
Reset — per action, or Reset all to defaults for everything.

Rebinding replaces the default chord (an action holds one binding at a time), and your bindings are saved with your editor preferences.

The document preview

The Preview button in the top bar switches the editor from the grid to a document-shaped view of the same rows. It is the fastest way to answer “does my translation still fit and look right?” — headings, lists, tables, figures and text frames appear where the document puts them, with your translated text in place.

What the preview gives you:

Real layout. Word-processor documents render as flowing pages; PDF-derived documents render as fixed pages with every text frame at its true position and size. When a translation runs longer than the source, a frame grows into the surrounding whitespace using the same rules the delivery rebuild uses — so what you see is what will ship.
Editing in place. Target text is editable directly in the preview. It is the same cell, the same autosave and the same shortcuts as the grid; only the layout around it changes. Hovering a block reveals its row-state chip, so you can confirm rows without leaving the reading flow.
Continuity with the grid. Switching views commits your active edit first, then opens the other view scrolled to the row you were on. Glossary jumps and search reveals work in both views.
Direction controls for RTL documents. In right-to-left documents each block and table carries a small direction control for flipping an individual element’s direction (including mirroring a table’s column order). Hovering an option previews the flip live; clicking commits it, and the choice carries through to the delivered file.

Use the preview at the end of a work session to sweep for layout problems the grid cannot show: overfull frames, awkward line breaks in headings, tables whose columns got crowded. Length-sensitive rows are also flagged in the grid itself — see style & formatting.

The preview is not available for continuous-localization projects — their content has no document layout to render.
